Who is Dennis Rodman?

Dennis Keith Rodman, the former NBA player, was born in Trenton, New Jersey, on May 13, 1961, to Shirley and Philander Rodman, Jr.

Early life

Rodman grew up with his mother and two sisters, Debra and Kim, in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas. He attended South Oak Cliff High School, where he was a gym class student of future Texas A&M basketball coach Gary Blair.

He was listed in the high school basketball teams but was either benched or cut from the squads. At only 5 ft 6 in (1.68 m) as a freshman, Rodman also failed to make the football team and felt devastated.

After high school, Denis Rodman worked as a night janitor at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

Career 

Dennis Rodman was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the 1986 NBA draft. The Detroit Pistons won 52 games to make and qualified for the 1987 NBA Playoffs. The Pistons won the championship for two consecutive years with Rodman as one of their main players. He played for the Pistons until 1993 when he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs.

In the 1993–94 NBA  season, Rodman joined a Spurs team and played with the All-Star center David Robinson. He played as a power forward. 

He was now successful and lived up to his promise of killing the "shy imposter" and "being himself." Despite an impressive season, the Spurs did not survive the first round of the 1994 playoffs.

Rodman's career took off well in 1995 when he joined the Chicago Bulls, where he played alongside Michael Jordan. Together, they helped the team win three consecutive NBA championships. At Chicago Bulls, he was named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team seven times and won the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award twice. He played with the Bulls until 1998.
