About a decade ago, Addison and Katie Meitzler embarked on a journey to bring rustic farmhouse charm into people's lives. Red Fox Primitives, their brainchild, turned out to be more than just a business. It became a testament to love, family, and the power of never giving up.

The Meitzlers started transforming ordinary wood into extraordinary pieces of furniture. Addison's carpentry skills and Katie's creative flair formed the perfect blend to create cozy, comforting, and country-esque masterpieces.

The dynamic duo learned the ropes of the business world through trial and error, and they've come a long way since. They know their customers like the back of their hands, designing products that resonate with the rustic farmhouse enthusiasts. The Meitzlers are all about that good ol' customer service—listening, learning, and delivering.

But the road to success wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.

When Red Fox Primitives first took off, Katie and Addison worked their fingers to the bone. They juggled the responsibilities of a growing family while building their dream business. With teamwork and dedication, they tackled obstacles head-on, exchanging roles as necessary to ensure their family and business thrived.

Fast forward to today, and Red Fox Primitives has evolved. They collaborate with manufacturers to produce inventory while still creating custom pieces on occasion. This shift enables them to focus on product fulfillment, adding that personal touch to each shipment.

Safety is a priority for the Meitzlers, using only materials that are safe for them and their customers. After all, the rustic charm of their creations is meant to be enjoyed without worry.

The crowd went wild.

Red Fox Primitives' customers are smitten with the pieces, often sharing pictures and stories about how these works of art have transformed their spaces. And the love goes both ways, as Katie and Addison appreciate the support that enables them to provide for their family.

The Meitzlers have built a loyal following of customers who absolutely adore their rustic pieces. They get emails and social media posts raving about their Red Fox Primitives treasures, and they know they're dealing with a family biz, not some faceless corporation.

Katie joined the Capitalism Incubator to take their company to the next level, and they're currently working on getting their products onto Amazon. They're planning to start with smaller, lighter items, and use the platform as an entry point for new customers to discover Red Fox Primitives. After all, folks are already searching for them there.

Their sales continue to grow every year, and they're set on hittin' that sweet million-dollar mark soon. They've built a massive audience on Facebook (23K), Instagram (10K), and TikTok (4K), and they've got a responsive email list they reach out to 3-4 times a week to keep them in the loop and send them goodies. Katie's all about spoiling their customers rotten, 'cause she knows they're the backbone of their business.

It's a family business.

The Meitzler kiddos are also involved, especially during the summer. They get little tasks as part of their chores, learning the ins and outs of the biz. The older they get, the more the concepts click for them. They learn how to get boxes ready to ship, pick and pack orders, work a little, then go play. It's all about that work-life balance.

For Katie, the most important thing is to really be present in her life. They want the freedom to create the life they want, to do things on their own schedule, and to provide for their family.

When asked for advice to pass along to readers, Katie said, “Remember that business is definitely a roller coaster ride. There are lots of ups and downs. It keeps moving. If you have one bad day, the next might be your best. Every day she is excited about what the day might hold. Don’t get discouraged if the going gets tough. It’s going to take grit. The test is how bad do you want it? Will you push through… or give up?”

The Meitzlers’ story is not just about building a successful business, but about building a life they love. They’ve shown that it’s possible to combine your passions and values to create something meaningful. They’ve shown that family and business can coexist and even thrive together. And they’ve shown that hard work, creativity, and grit can take you far.

This will be an exciting story to watch as it unfolds as the Meitzlers walk the road to $1 million. We’ll keep you posted on their progress!
